Open Access Maternity Clinic (OAC)

The OAC is to provides prenatal and postpartum care to anyone who desires midwifery care, and centers families who are Medicaid recipients, under-insured, uninsured, and undocumented. Specifically, it’s an avenue to decrease maternal health disparities by providing equitable, accessible, and affordable care to people who would not typically seek midwifery services. The OAC is perfect for the pregnant person who wants high quality midwifery care, but might not be ready for an out-of-hospital birth experience.

Clients who choose this route will receive the same prenatal care as our clients who choose to deliver at home; however, they will deliver at their local hospital with the on-call doctors. They are encouraged to return to our practice for their postpartum needs, including the 6-week postpartum visit.

The OAC model allows clients to pay a small fee-for-service of $200-350 for the initial visit and $100-250 per prenatal and/or postpartum visit plus any lab and ultrasound fees. If the client has insurance or Medicaid, labs and ultrasounds can be billed to the insurance plan, but the client will be responsible for paying for the visit. Sliding scale fee available upon request.

We realize that quality prenatal care is only part of the equation, so we also work with local doulas to provide affordable doula support for OAC clients.
